Primarily responsible for academic programs, scheduling and faculty issues in the Division of Continuing Education, including program design and development. Assisted the Executive Director with budgeting and internal college affairs.

Scheduling

  • scheduled 150+ courses for 9 degree programs, 8 certificate programs and open-enrollment offerings in Fall/Spring Continuing Education catalog
  • scheduled 250+ courses for all College summer programs offered in two summer sessions

Staff/Faculty Oversight

  • in Executive Director’s absence, responsible for oversight of all divisional operations and staff of five full-time employees
  • oversaw full-time Adult Degree Coordinator, ensuring smooth operation of the Adult Degree Program
  • coordinated academic oversight and hiring recommendations with Department Chairs and School Deans
  • interviewed and hired new faculty for Fall/Spring Continuing Education and all College summer courses
  • functioned as liaison for Fall/Spring Continuing Education and all College summer instructors
  • oversaw contracting and evaluation for Fall/Spring Continuing Education and all College summer instructors
  • developed and implemented expanded evaluation system for Continuing Education instructors
  • initiated and managed ongoing Faculty Development Workshops series

Academic Technology Implementation and Innovation

  • coordinated integration of technology into Continuing Education instruction, including integration of the WebCT course support system
  • created and taught a pilot distance learning course, WP211-9 Introduction to Creative Writing: Fiction, the first distance learning course offered at Emerson (offered in five subsequent semesters, Spring 2001 – Fall 2003)
  • designed, coded and maintained 350+ page course materials web site for WP211-9
  • secured all necessary institutional support for offering distance learning courses
  • submitted to dean’s council a proposed redrafting of the College intellectual rights policy reflecting the complications created by digital teaching materials
  • secured approval for a contracting process that will allow for rapid expansion of digitally enhanced teaching while controlling costs
  • assisted Academic Computing Center and Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies in organizing the Summer 2001 Instructional Design Institute

Academic Development

  • designed, coordinated, and implemented new academic offerings
  • developed, implemented, and oversaw year-long Media Production Certificate Program
  • developed, implemented, and oversaw two-semester Children’s Writing Certificate Program
  • developed, implemented, and oversaw ten-week Documentary Production Summer Seminar

Advising
